Fairmont Orchid Partners with The Food Basket to Support Hawai‘i Island Families in Need
‘Ohana Food Drop
Fairmont Orchid is proud to sponsor an upcoming ‘Ohana Food Drop in partnership with The Food Basket, Hawai‘i Island’s Food Bank. This important community event will take place on November 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Waimea District Park, providing fresh produce, pantry staples, and other essential food items to local families in need ahead of the holiday season.
“Our Fairmont Orchid ‘ohana is honored to work alongside The Food Basket to ensure that our Hawai‘i Island community is cared for and nourished,” shares Marion te Winkel, Hotel Manager. “In addition to supporting the ‘Ohana Food Drop, we are thrilled to host the annual Turkey Trot at our property — a beloved tradition that brings the island together and raises money to make the holidays brighter for those who need it most.”
Turkey Trot
Continuing its commitment to community giving, Fairmont Orchid will host its annual Turkey Trot 2025 on November 22, 2025—a festive 5K run/walk with all proceeds benefiting The Food Basket. Guests and community members are invited to join in the fun, enjoy a morning of fitness and aloha, and give back to Hawai‘i Island families. Participants will enjoy complimentary refreshments and cocktails, exciting prize opportunities, and a chance to win a Grand Prize of a one-night stay at Fairmont Orchid. It’s not too late to sign up and join in the fun!
“It’s this kind of partnership that reminds us how powerful community can be when we come together to care for one another,” says Kristin Frost Albrecht, Executive Director of The Food Basket. “This has been a really challenging time for Hawai‘i Island, and we encourage those in need to come to the ‘Ohana Food Drop — it’s open on a first-come, first-served basis. We also hope the community will join us for the Turkey Trot—it’s always a wonderful opportunity to reach families, enjoy time together, and celebrate the spirit of giving.”
